Evidence indicates that the cardioprotective effects of hormone therapy are modified by timing of initiation according to time since menopause and age. The cardioprotective role of postmenopausal hormone therapy will only be resolved by studies such as the Early versus Late Intervention Trial with Estradiol. |

The benefit in women who initiate hormone therapy in close proximity to menopause is similar to other coronary heart disease primary prevention therapies. |
